Baby gifts such as baby clothes and baby blankets are not usually things you would expect to don the set of one of Britain’s most popular soaps. However, it seems that some stars of Eastenders have been showing their support to one of their colleagues by showering her with baby gifts.
Laurie Brett, who plays Jane Beale has been overwhelmed with baby clothes from co-stars such as Steve McFadden who plays east end bad boy, Phil Mitchell.Although her character is sadly unable to have children herself, Laurie has been bowled over by all the support and baby gifts she has been receiving from her co-stars.
Speaking to Hello! Magazine recently about the upcoming arrival, the forty year old actress revealed that she had been overwhelmed by all the support she had been shown. She told the magazine: “I keep arriving at my dressing room to find that Steve McFadden has left all sorts of gifts outside my door, including a beautiful crib. He has been like Santa.”
Linda Henry who plays Shirley Carter and Cheryl Fergison who plays Heather Trott in the long running soap have also been quick to support the actress, who is due to give birth in May. They have even promised to take Laurie on a well-deserved shopping trip to pick up all the last minute baby clothes and other essentials.
Although the star did try to keep her pregnancy secret at the beginning, it was her onscreen husband, Adam Woodyatt who plays Ian Beale, who finally realised she was expecting. She told Hello!: “It’s not surprising that he knew as we spend more time with each other than we do with our partners.”Laurie and boyfriend Johnny Milroy will now be looking forward to the new arrival some time next month. Good luck!
