Not everyone in this digital age is comfortable with technology. And the thing about technology is that it moves so fast. You only have to take your eye off it for a minute to find that everything has moved on so quickly and you have been left behind. This, combined with some people’s lack of confidence with technology and the innate human ability to ignore instruction manuals (who really reads them?!) accounts for the fact that some people still cannot do the simplest of tasks – such as replace their printer’s ink cartridges.
If this sounds like you – don’t worry! Everything you need to know about changing your ink cartridges is right here.
Firstly, ensure that you don’t try to replace your toner cartridges until they need changing. Your machine will let you know with a flashing ink out light or with a message on the status monitor. When you get one of these messages, prepare to change your cartridge.Get the new toner cartridge ready by shaking it a few times while it is still in its packaging before peeling off the protective layer. (Be careful that you don’t spill any of the ink, as it can stain skin, clothes and carpets.)Ensure that the printer is on, and remove the outer cover of the machine.
You will need to press a button – perhaps the ink replacement button or similar on your machine (check your user’s guide) to get the machine in replacement mode.Carefully remove the empty toner cartridge and replace with the new one.Close the outer cover of the printer and allow the machine a few moments to get the new cartridge in the right position.
Well done! One last thing: it’s important to remember to dispose of the old cartridge properly. This means recycling it and not just throwing it into the bin.
