For those who have not yet had first aid training, what should you expect from attending first aid courses? Perhaps you are worried you will not be able to keep up with all the information that is thrown at you or maybe you do not have any prior knowledge of first aid at all. There is no need to worry as first aid courses can be attended and passed by almost anyone of any age and from any background.
When attending first aid courses you will find the main basis of the first aid training will cover three critical issues. These include airway, cardio and blood. When looking at airway, this will cover issues such as checking whether the victim is able to breathe properly. Blood will involve checking how badly the person is bleeding and trying to stop or ease the bleeding if possible. Cardio will cover issues such as checking the person’s heart-beat.
Beyond those three issues, the rest of first aid training will cover areas such as keeping the victim calm and as relaxed as possible. This may also involve keeping them comfortable while they wait for the ambulance paramedics to arrive.
First aid is an area that can be applied to a large number of possible emergency situations that may arise so a part of the training will also cover how to prevent possible accidents from occurring. In the work place and in the home for example this may include making sure that all loose wires are tucked up safely to prevent someone from accidently tripping over them and hurting themselves.
Most of the training on a course of this type will be practical and may involve working together with classmates to practice or act out potential emergency situations. A lot of it will also be based on everyday common sense.
