If your lounge needs some sprucing up and decorating, but you can’t really afford to paint the walls, buy new curtains, put in new carpet or new flooring, or go shopping for marble fireplaces, here are some ideas to help you easily decorate your lounge on a budget.
1. Clean thoroughly A room always looks prettier and more welcome once you dust, vacuum, wash the windows, etc. Wash any fabric you can as well, including upholstery covers, curtains, area rugs, etc. to remove dust and stains.
2. Look for ways to add color. This is especially helpful if you work with the colors already in the room, such as the color of the walls, curtains, carpet, or fireplaces. Add little shelves to the wall and place colored glass jars or charity-shop figurines on the shelves.
3. Decorate around what you have. Do you have nice, large window sills? Or perhaps you have fireplaces in several rooms? Place decorative items or plants on these surfaces. Marble fireplaces look great decorated with elegant trailing plants or a vase of flowers.
4. Add an area rug to the room. Place one in the center of the room, by the doorway, or in front of the sofa. Try to find a colorful one that compliments your other decor. Sometimes you can find cheap rugs at charity shops or discount home decorating shops.
5. Add mood lighting. Small table lamps or corner floor lamps add a great deal of cozy atmosphere to any room.
There are many other things you can do to spruce up your lounge and make it look new and fresh without spending a lot of money. Try to think creatively, and every time you go out shopping look for cheap things that you could use to decorate or make an area look new and pretty.
