Cheap international calls are very hard to come by these days with so much competition coming from mobile phone networks. International phone calls could soon be cheaper thanks to a new phone card that is being launched by leading retailer, Tesco. With the possibility of making cheap international calls to more than sixty countries, the retailer now hopes that families will be able to make some savings when calling friends and family living or working abroad.
The company decided to launch this card after some research was carried out by Simplifydigital which revealed that many people end up spending more money making international phone calls each year by failing to shop around for the best deals.
Speaking about the findings to the Press Association, Simplifydigital chief executive, Charlie Ponsonby said: “Families who regularly make international calls and have not checked the calling plan they are on are crazy.
“The key is to find the plan that matches the international destinations you call regularly.” Available by the end of the year, customers using the new Tesco call cards will be able to make calls to international destinations including landlines and mobile phones. According to Tesco, if a customer purchases a £5 card they should be able to get over two hundred minutes of call time to family and friends living abroad.
Also speaking recently, Tesco Telecoms and Tesco Mobile chief executive, Lance Batchelor has revealed why the company decided to launch the new card. He said: “ Customers want honest, simple prices, convenience, and good service.
“The card allows people the flexibility to call where they want, whenever they want, without the need for a prescriptive bundle or subscription service.” The company also hopes that customers will be happy that a number of less popular destinations to ring abroad, such as India, will be included in the cheaper rate.
